London’s German Oktoberfest event is moving to a bigger site this year at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford.
Following the huge success of their first year In 2017 with over 30,000 visitors, German brewer Erdinger Launches are moving their Oktoberfest event to the former Olympics site and will create a traditional Bavarian beer ball for 5,000 people-a-day across September And October.
From Thursday September 27th till Sunday October 28th the German private brewery ERDINGER Weissbräu is set to build a huge traditional Bavarian beer hall and fun fair at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, which will be open from Thursday to Sunday.
The Event will take place on a beautiful area close to the Aquatic Centre and the ArcelorMittal Orbit which is the site where the GB Olympic team won many of their 65 medals at the 2012 Olympics.
The ERDINGER Oktoberfest beer hall will be a five-minute walk from Stratford station, which has two underground lines (Central and Jubilee), Overground, DLR and national and international rail services.
The main marquee which will look like the outside of a 19th century open-plan Bavarian beer hall with wooden floors and walls will be equipped with over 220 bench tables to sit and dance on. The 16,700 sq.ft. interior is decorated with floral garlands, a traditional blue and white striped roof, and a live music stage for entertainment. The beer hall has capacity for 3,000 people and the outdoor space will accommodate another 2,000. Over 250,000 pints of premium “Erdinger Weissbier” (wheat beer) and smooth lager “Fischers Hell” will be shipped directly from the brewery in Bavaria to guarantee a real Oktoberfest feeling for all Londoner fans. To serve the guests, not less than over 40 expert Bavarian waitresses dressed in traditional Dirndl dresses will be brought in. Apart from serving the guests they will as well train the British staff in how to carry up to 10 steins of beer at one time and there will be 100s of jobs for Londoners at the month long event.
Every day live entertainment from famous Oktoberfest bands flown in from Munich will be the major attraction in the main beer hall followed by modern pop acts and DJs that will run through the evening. They are also looking forward to host special themed nights as the PINK Oktoberfest on October 7th.
Apart from the beer hall the new site will have a fun fair and an outdoor beer garden with genuine wooden Alpine huts, transported from Germany for the month long event. There will be food stalls selling traditional Bavarian cuisine including Haxn (pork knuckles), Leberkäs (beef/pork loaf), Sauerkraut, and of course the world-famous Bratwurst sausages. Visitors will also have the opportunity to buy merchandise articles and souvenirs as traditional Bavarian clothing that will remind them of a day full of joy at the Oktoberfest in London.
